Suggestion for Forums programmer

Can you create a way to limit “Search Forums” to a particular forum? I am not an avid forum participant, so I may just not be doing it right, but when I enter “Customer Service” in the entry box, I get literally hundreds of garbage posts listed that have nothing to do with the entire site, let alone the forum I thought I was entering it in, “General Modeling Discussion.”

What the heck does “Metropolitan Movers Hamilton” or “Tips for Reflective Writing Essay Intelligent write my essay” have to do with FSM??? Do I need a dentist? “Bonita Del Rey Dental Care know that you have many options when it comes to choosing a dentist…”

How about a way for real, registered users to tag a post as garbage or troll bait?

Thanks

Try putting quotes around your search words, “model T ford”.

I use google search just prefix your subject with finescale e.g.

[Google] finescale 1/48 P-51D

i do what keavdog does. Ive tried numerous times to use the site search, but it doesnt work good at all. FYI - yesterday i was looking for a recent post of a particular user. I put in his ID and all that came up was an intro post from about 8 years ago. Tried again and i got 2 7 year old posts, but not the intro post. I went again and scanned in the recent activity threads, and sure enough there was the post on the 3rd page… Go figure!

Yeah, the search feature is not very robust, and having to use a 3rd-party search engine is a workaround, not a resolution.

My own opinion is that it’s probably not a good use of FSM money to invest in a full-time programmer to replicate what Google already does well (as mentioned above).

Search always seems like it should be simple. It never is.
