Anyone out there using an air tank compressor for airbrushing that they would recommend? (Brand/Model)? Any particular features I should look for (or stay away from)? I’m thinking something in a 2HP, 4-6 gal capacity range. Are pretty much all tank compressors capable of regulating psi down to modeling range (20-40 psi)? or are some only capable of higher psi minimums?
Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If noise is a concern, then get a SilentAire Technology air compressor. It is good
enough for hobbyists, but not for heavy duty applications. Here is their phone # if

I use a Paasche D3000 with a regulaator, and i REALLY like it. I can regulate the pressure anywhere from 38psi down to about 3psi… pretty low! I got mine on e-bay ( a great deal!).
I never really do any brushing below about 24psi, and usually use about 18-20psi for acrylics, and 9-10 for lacquers – using a Badger 360 air-brush.
It’s got a small tank, but runs VERY smooth, consistent pressure.
I use a Craftsman 4 gal pancake air compressor. Yes, it’s loud when it starts up but it’s in the basement and not really heard throughout the house.
It can get down to the 3-5 psi range and can top out at 120 psi. I usually airbrush in the 20 psi range and have great results. With the tank, you don’t have any pulsation and the low airbrushing pressures allow a long time before the compressor kicks in.
I decided to get a general air compressor so I could use it for other things than just airbrushing. It’s been great for cleaning dust out of the computer and other stuff around the house.
