Hi fellas,
I’m a ‘born again’ modeler and I like dioramas. It’s been years since I have modeled and I’d like to know what everyone uses for a platform. Plywood? Styrofoam? How thick? I’m starting to do some scenery and I’m using celluclay. Any suggestions are appreciated - thanks.
Hi PastaDNA, Welcome back to this insane hobby! What I usually use for my dio bases is a piece of unfinished wood that they sell at my local craft store( hobby Lobby, Michaels, ETC.).
If you are using celluclay for you groundwork you must seal the wood with a varnish first or the water in the celluclay will warp the wood. Also if you mix some white glue into your celluclay mix it will adhere beter to your base. Good luck
Must it be varnish? Or, will any ‘sealer’ work? Thanks for the advice.
