substitutes for a wash

I just mixed my wash but I don’t havea glossy finish on any of my planes and don’t know where to get some. if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum!

It sounds like you need a good coat of Future before applying that wash. You can a/brush or coat with a paintbrush. Make sure to let that Future cure for 24 to 48 hrs.
I have applied washes onto flat and semi gloss satin finishes with success in the past. It is much more demanding on a flat finish because the capillary action isn’t as good.
You really can’t screw things up to bad if you use water soluable materials in your wash mixture. You didn’t mention if you are going for recessed panel line highlights or overall weathering effects.
Again welcome to FSM and happy modeling1

i normally paint in gloss , but as steve says give it a coat of gloss varnish , i use kids water based paint mixed with screen wash, paint in the lines , clean off with a cotton bud dipped in screen wash
