Sturmvogel (me 262)

here is tamiya’s 1/48 Me 262A-2a, my first and definitely not last 262. This plane is 1./KG51 in 1944. i built it OOB

What a beauty, yeti! [tup]

How did you apply the camo?

Very nice paint, weathering, and decal work! (I’m guessing you used stencils for the camo work?) I did notice a seam here and there, but overall a nice piece to display.

Looks really good. Im also curious about the camo application.

Actually the camo application is described in an article I wrote for FSM. they accepted it last week. I used stencils and free hand airbrushing of RLM 82 Dunkelgrun over RLM 83 Lichtgrun.

Very nice. I can’t wait to see the article in FSM. I have that plane in my “anxiously awaiting” stash.

Very nice looking 262! I like the paint.

Nicely done yeti. The visible seam on the bottom aft fuselage is a bit of a downer, but the overall finish looks real good.

Regards, Rick

Thank you for your kind words. I am a little disappointed with the seam line but I would rather have it be there were no one will really see it then Have the wing gaps. I may fill, sand, and repaint that section latter.

Nice build Yeti… I like the camo scheme…very cool.

You know, it seems odd to see a picture of NGC-6543 as your avatar on a model forum…

Very nice Yeti, I have the Tamiya 1/48 with the Kettenkrad. I also plan on doing the 2 seat conversion on it as well. What was your build like? Seems, wing roots, engine nacelles etc. Ive opened the box and looks pretty sweet to me.

The kit was wonderfull. the cockpit detail was great, the only seams were on the bottome as you can see in one of my pics. The wing joints are better then most models. After building it I am looking forward to Building Tamiyas A-1a and If I can find a review possably Dragon’s A1-a/U4

Nice 262. Great kit isn’t it?

ya I just wish I could do this scheme, they describe how in an article but I dont have the skills

yeti, my 2 year old nephew did that camo scheme on my wall yesterday with a green crayon[:D]. That camo it not really as difficult as it is time consuming. All fun aside it does take good airbrush control skills to free hand those tight squiggely lines and make it look right and in scale. Once you can do that you just about home free. That camo is very well done.

It may look hard now, but as your skill improve that camo will not be out of reach for you. Save the pics of stuff you like but feel your not ready for and the day will come that you look at it and go I can do that!

Beautifully done. Love the paint job. I think I better just stick to the armor because I just don’t have the patience that requires to build and paint an aircraft kit.

Really, I have built a few tanks and I find that they take far more patience then airplanes, all the little accessories on them and those Individual track links.
