i just read the forum about stupid habits I thought “why don’t we all share some stupip habits, and we may feel less stupid?” On of mine is without knowing, i brin the part i am working on over my lap, and neal down, dropping the piece. What are yours
Hmmm… I think my worst one is getting half way through construction and decideing I want to change something or I want to change something that will require me to tear part of it apart… Man, why do I do that?
I quite often get ot a point with some part of a kit that I say “Man, that looks good. Just a little more and it’ll be perfect.”
Then I screw it up.
I do this to EVERY kit.
I should know better by now…
My worst habbit is getting half way through a build then thinking…ah well I’ll just start another one then I end up with about 4-5 build’s on the go at one time
I’ve done that before but I usually get to a certain point and think I ought to do this or that to it. Then what happens is I get side tracked and the next thing I know, I have 3-4 other things going on.[:D]
I do the same thing, I will say to myself, self, I think it needs to be a little dirtier over here, next thing you know my whole airplane is covered in soot and looks like it just flew over a volcano! Know when to say when [:D]
I do a mix of Comet’s and jwb’s habits:
When I add detail to a model I’m NEVER 100% satisfied with the result, I ALWAYS have to touch up something and so NEVER complete a model and thus start a NEW ONE.
I’m not sure if it qualifies as stupid, but I solved the dilemma of losing xacto knife in a rather novel way. Since I often sit at my modelling desk with one leg folded under me, I realized I could easily grip the knife handle with my foot and thus hold onto it while both hands are busy, with no chance of it rolling off the desk or becoming lost in the rubble.
I have a very "un"gentl touch. My brain realizes i need something on the other end of the desk and forgets whats inbetween. I have a habbit of droping or flicking parts around. If disturbed, i tend to forget what i am doing and get up without regard to what is around me.
This works fine for my job which most of the time is a large scale version of model building, but I just can’t deal with delicate and tiney things gently.
Learn to trim peices with your foot, then I’ll be impressed - LOL
My stupidest reoccuring mistake: OVERSPRAY.
I’ll be happily spraying the propellor black, only to later discover strange
mysterious black spots on another part. Hmmm how did those get there?
Doh!
