Stuka Problem!!

Hi all, I am working on my Hase Stuka and I have a problem. I have sprayed the model with Pollyscale and Testor arcrylic paint. I tried to mask off the splinter scheme but it kept bleeding through the tape. I have sprayed and resprayed so much that it is time to start over. The problem is that the paint will not come off!!! I have sanded, scraped, and even used my fingernail and I still can’t get it off.[banghead] Please Help!!

Chris

Rubbing alchohol may work, I seem to remember oven cleaner being mentioned before.

Dot 3 brake fluid works like a charm disolving paint. You just have to be shure to remove all traces of the fluid otherwise your new paint will not stick.

Sorry to here of your problem. Like crusher said, brake fluid will strip it. Next time try a trick that works good for me. After applying your first color…mask for your second color, but this time…spray clear flat between the masks and let it dry. The clear coat will fill any voids at the edge of the tape so any blleding of the next color cannot hapeen. The end result will be a nice sharp crisp line. Good luck.

Next time, just use Tamiya tape. Make sure the edges are pressed down & spray away [:)].

this gets me every time.

yes, dot 3 will take off paint. but this is acrylic you’re dealing with, the whole point of using acrylic is so you don’t have to deal with nasty toxic crap like dot 3. rubbing alcohol will do it, windex will do it, simple green will do it, WATER will take acrylic off. any of the thinners intended for the paints you’re using will take off the paint. enamel thinners will take the stuff off.

dot 3 will make the paint on your car run, that’s why people with show cars won’t use it even though it works better. it makes your skin tingle. it slowly eats away rubber gloves. please try windex first. you probably have that already anyway.
