Well it does have bolted on armor on the driver scope…
walk around stug, Page 77.
Thanks peridexion
not attacking anyone, just trying to set the record straight! don’t take it personally my friend. a fair and even-handed exchange of ideas doesn’t mean it has to escalate into a flame war. I don’t feel I’ve been so mean? thanks for the posts, keep them coming.
Petbat; Thanks for the accolades, though I’m not so sure I always follow Robert’s Rules of Order. [:-^]
Your assessment of the production variations concurs with what I have, we obviously draw from many of the same books. My only comment was in answer to Tankbuild’s question concerning the caption on StuG # 111, the tusked one. In Walk Around , it states that 111 didn’t have Zimmerit. I myself can’t tell from looking at this single small photo whether it has Zimmerit or not. But after my demonstration of how a scanner can put Zimmerit on a Sherman, I’m a bit wary of making these kinds of determinations from a rather distant photo. But then again, who knows whether the author’s assessment is correct either?
Im building with out zimm. [:D]
Exactly my point about distant pics Peridexion. I have seen several pics of the same vehicle where lighting and angle removed zim that was actually there and visible close up. As to captions, how many times have you seen the same pic in different books, but with different comments, different dates and even different theatres of war. Enough said.
Tankbuild - build away, as you desire, my friend. It is not up to you to prove it did not have zim, it is up to the rivet counters to prove it did…which may be a tad hard at this stage, by all accounts. Just don’t forget to post the pics for us.
I greet
