Stug 3 Side Skirts

On the thin armor “skirts” on the Stug 3 model that I am doing, would these have been camoflaged on both sides of the skirts, or just on the side facing the outside? I can’t find any photos that show one way or the other.

Thanks

I think the general consensus is the outside only. No real reason to waste time and resources painting camo on the side that wouldn’t have even be seen.

I second Eric. And I think the inside would be Dark Yellow rather than primer red, though I am not 100% sure on that.

Thanks for the help. I agree the inside would be the dark yellow and not primer. Just didn’t know about the outside. I have also seen pictures of the camo on the outside being different between skirts. The explaination was that the skirts were damaged and replaced with others.

That’s true Recon. The plates were not secured to the vehicles but hung in such a way that it that got tangled that would come off rather than foul up the vehicle. This means its not uncommon to see vehicles with plates missing or plates in a different pattern.

I’d second that.

You mean, like this?

It was certainly faster to just build about half of the plates for this Panther. At first I had planned on doing both side completely, but I thought, as you said Bish, that many vehicles would lose plates in action and the result would look something like I tried to replicate.
