Way back when, a Stug GB was started on the forum. I am more than a little late finishing. Anyway, pretty well OOB except for the DML indy links (guidehorns and loop ends drilled out), the Aber tool clamps and intake grill set and a few bits added from strip styrene, brass, etc. Painted in Tamiya acrylics with drybrushing with humbrol and artists oils. Figures are DML that were modified to fit correctly, painted in Valejo acrylics.
this is what the model was based on, not a copy of , just close enough was what I wanted. It is from Allied-Axis no 10 and depicts early Stug 3 Ausf G 's of a training unit in Holland 1943. As it was a training unit, there was no need to cover the rear in stowage, as evidenced by the lack of stuff in the pic)
as always, comments favourable or critical are most welcome.
Whenever there is research on the real thing, I think it makes the model better. Those guys are glad to be in the Stug and not out slopping around in that mud. The tarp is very good.
Better late than never, eh mate? Marvelous build Peter. You really captured the muddy, but not overdone look. The figures are great too. Thanks for sharing.
I watched your progress in the GB and was amazed then as I am now. Those Figgy’s really set the whole thing off. The weathering is very well done. I would hate to get my boots sucked off standing in that super mud you created. Looks very real. Splendid job.
Outstanding modelling! You’ve captured the essence of mud perfectly! Great figures, too.
The only observation I can make is that theh StuG seems to be riding a little high on that muddy road. That is, it isn’t sinking in at all, but just seems to be skimming across the surface. With all that great mud slung up and on the vehicle, and with the obviously super-soggy condition of that road, I’d imagine it’d be sunk to halfway up the roadwheels in that muck! (The road in the ref pic doesn’t seem quite as muddy as that in your dio)
Just an observation!
