We’ve got our hands-on expert, now we need a plastic kit! Welcome aboard, and prepare to get bombarded with questions once there’s kits to build.

Welcome to the forum.
So… is it really plagued with as many problems as I’ve heard?

Hello again, although there is no kit for the stryker it is a easy conversion for those of you who scratch build. You just take the LAV-25 kit and add the specific parts. The stryker uses the exact same hull as the LAV, with all the new and improved equipment. I am trying to figure out how to post some pics, I have thousands of them and as soon as I figure it out I will post some. For those of you who heard that the vehicle is plauged with problems all I can say is I have been on armored vehicle for 19+ yrs and this is the best vehicle I have ever been on.

I don’t think LAV-25 is going to be a particularly good base. If I recall, that’s Pirhana II, and the Stryker is based off Pirhana III. It has a different hull shape for starters.

I think the objections to Styker are mainly politically motivated. It has some troubles, but all new systems will. I’ve worked with them in Mosul, and they do a fantastic job.

NTM

OK. Here’s a comparison shot between the two. You can see that they really look nothing alike. Immediate points, for example, are the rounded front on the III with the ‘step’ partway up the glacis and the ‘flatter’ driver’s hatch position on the II.

Nope, the Stryker looks like the LAV-25, but is actually wider, longer and taller. The angles are slightly different as well, with steeper sides and a longer, less sloped nose. Sorry, but I agree, it is not a good base to start with. The hull is totally different. You could probably use the running gear from the LAV-25 kit, but thats about it. The tires and wheels are different as well.

There was a company, Tiger Models, I think, that was making a resin version. It was supposed to be out by now. Hope it comes out soon and then someone does one in plastic. Trumpeter announced a LAV-25, maybe they will do the Stryker too.

The Stryker is one kit that I definitely would like to see in plastic. It’s just a cool looking beast.

Heck, I have to get a good kit of the LAV-25 for my shelves, too.

Regardless,
I’m getting in line for one, resin, plastic, cardboard…I’d love to do this build.

I’m looking forward to having another first-hand armor expert in here to brain-leech off of! [^]

Thanks for your service overseas. Do you get time to build any models over there?

[#ditto] Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about the Stryker ![tup]
