STRINGY PAINT!

i sprayed gunze sangyo enamel “aircraft gray” to my F-15 and the paint gets stringy when it touches the plastic…the fuselage and the missile pods looked like they were webbed by spiders. i used a gunze sangyo thinner to thin the paints.

what causes those stringy paints?

thanks guys!

Which thinner did you use, Gunze makes 2.

Mr Levelling thinner is they one for airbrushing as it has a retarder added in.

oh i used the other one. [banghead]

thanks MadModelFactory!
you’re always the first one to answer my questions hehehe
thanks man!

Sounds like like your thinner and paint is not compatible, would check to make sure that if you are using enamel paint that the thinner is not an acrylic one.

Not sure if that is the problem though. I have exerienced the same problem only twice and both times it was with a flesh colour that I had mixed.

Wish thought that I could duplicate it, great effect for the PL Spiderman Kit.

Might be because of the time difference and that I am not too busy in the office at the moment.

i’m sure it’s an enamel thinner…

i’ve used it to paint an interior with white and no problems, it’s just this gray color.
maybe it’s the paint.
thanks for the help guys!

MadModel Factory, i hope you’re always “not busy” so you could answer my questions all the time hehehehe. you can duplicate it by mixing white enamel paint with water. i’ve done it by accident.

Thanks, for the Info. I am at the moment between projects, so I got a bit of free-time at the office.

ey Mad…where in japan are you from?
my dad works there. he’s in tokyo.
are the models there cheaper?
maybe i could ask my dad to send me some
coz some of the models here are very expensive.
if you get to buy a cheaper model, it doesn’t fit good.

Sorry, I am not japanese, my Wife is though.

I am also in the big smog. [:D]

Not sure where you are, but some kits will be cheaper if he bought them here and shipped them.
Most good shops have atleast a 10% reduction on kits from the listed price, very few shops that charge the price printed by the manufacturer on the Box.
