Strangest Tank of all Time?

Very strange indeed! Also, the US WWI experimental ‘Skeleton’ tank… another cool oddball.

Ron.

Where can I get one?

Here’s a link for one: http://www.panzershop.iol.cz/koraaj.htm
It will set you back a C-note for this ugly duck though!

What were the designers thinking? Or more important what did the unfortunate tankers thought of it. Although I must admit it will make an interesting modelling project although it would have to be scratch build.[:D]

Leopold, this one must not have asked for much design time… LOL[:D]

That’s apparently the very first Russian tank…

DJ, I believe the export version sold to France was refered to as Le Box. [;)] I think that it is also the prototype for Le Shottrap.

you see the conmparison betweeen 1/35 and 1/72???!!! It would have been quite the phycilogical (sp) weapon though. it would have intimidated anyone!

Leopold, Le Box Royale…! (been watching Pulp Fiction again, as you can tell!)

Where can I buy one of these? My e-mail to one of the sites that list Kora came back on deliverable.

heres an Odd one
its called a Kubelpanzer

Caveman, that’s not a tank. Let me explain.

The Germans were making a gigantic nude statue of Hitler in 1945 that was never completed, which was going to tower over the Reich.

Anyway, that’s a certain part of the anatomy of the statue. [:0]

It is true, however, that “Kubelpanzer” was Eva Braun’s nickname for it. [;)]

Called the MENDELEYEV eh? Must be Russian for ‘Haven’t taken it out of the box yet’. [:D][:D][:D]

Ron.

Caveman and Larry, I believe the recruiting poster read: “KugelPanzerTruppen wanted, must be at most 1.4 meters high by 1.4 meters wide.” along with this illustration: [4:-)]

Ron.

I do believe I am having a brainstorm about my very first complete scratchbuild project. “No no, honey, that’s the way it’s supposed to look.”

“It’s an accurate scale model.”

“It’s a meat tenderizer.”

It’s an accurate scale model and a meat tenderizer."

That Kugelpanzer is sitting at Kubinka now, isn’t it? It was designed to be an beobachtungwagen as I recall. Basically, you were supposed to sit in this thing and watch while the enemy used you for target practice. [D)]

thats a tank??? it looks like a kids tricycle

theres also the Alkett Minenroller

also at Kubinka

and the British Praying Mantis

theres one of these at Bovinton
its a modified Bren carrier

I’ve seen that mine roller before – with that little Panzer I turret on top it reminds me a bit of R2D2.

Kugelpanzer literally means armoured ball.

Don’t know if it qualifies as the wierdest of all time, but it definately gets my vote for the most useful. Known as “Big Wind”, it’s basically a pair of Mig-21 engines strapped to the top of a Russian T-34 tank. It was used at the end of the Gulf War in 1991 to help put out oil fires in Kuwait. After starting up the engines, the pipes on the top would eject huge amounts of water, which very effectively put out the fires. Quite a good recycling job, if you ask me.

wow that loks ummmm… interesting to say the least.
