I’ve made 4 or 5 posts on the forums over the past month and I still seem to be on probation and have to wait 1-3 days for my posts to show up. Why is this?
Hi Colonel, we moderate users for several reasons. It can be anything from simply keeping an eye on new users to putting someone on probation for breaking forum rules and causing trouble in the replies. I can look into why we have you under moderation, if you’d like. Hopefully this helps!
Thank you for replying and looking into it.
What are the rules or guidelines for how long a new user is on probation? For example, does he have to reach X number of posts? Something similar to that? Or is it more discretionary for the moderators? It would interesting to learn something about the process.
In the HELP section under my profile, this FAQ is listed.
“After I created my account, I was shown a message that said I was in a trial period. What does that mean?
Not all communities use trial periods. A trial period is used to determine that an individual creating a new account is a legitimate account creator. After your account is created, a determined number of posts (usually only the first) must first be approved by a site moderator before it appears open to the public. Once a moderator has determined your account is legitimate, the trial period will be over and your account will be moved into regular status.”
I read this and felt that I met the probation requirements. However, after several posts over a few weeks, I was still on probation. I think I am off probation now.
