Hi guys. I am about to embark on a mission to convert the Tamiya T-72 into a T-90S. This is going to be a huge project, and I was wondering if there would be any interest in me documenting it step by step taking pics and posting them here? Let me know if anybody is interested.
So far my list of parts:
Tamiya T-72
Karaya Modern Russian Towcables
Friulmodel tracks
Miniarm Six xpoke road wheels
Eduard PE set
Model point gun barrel
AEf designs Conversion
My only fear now is that Jeff Herne is gonna nail me again for spending this much cash and then complainign about the price of the Tamiya F-16…[:)][;)][:p]
To tell you the truth Rob I am still waiting for it. However, from my searchings it seems that this particular conversion is one of the best from AEF (i.e. usable). It consists of all new castings and seems to be decent. We shall see once I get mine though. However, as a backup I have my eye on a Terre Models conversion as well.
I really hate to say this but unless you have the AEF conversion, you might be waiting for some time. I would be interested in seeing your progress. The Concord book "T-72 and T-90"has some very good reference photos in it. It will be helpful during your build.
Kaleu, I did not order directly from AEF designs. I ordered from panzershop. www.panzershop.cz Do you think this will still take and inordianately large amount of time? If so I’ll go ahead and order the Terre Models conversion from Blast Models.
One of the main problems is, no T-90 conversion to date has the correct glaci plate armour. The ONLY T-90 w/ correct glacis armour is the Ace 1/72 T-90S.
