Steam punk FLYING rc Blimp

I made an Rc blimp using a 1/350 Academy Cutty Sark for the gondola. I had to widen the hull to accomidate the electronics, then had to made it light enough to achieve neutral bouyancy.

First up the gondola with excess plastic removed:

side veiw:

front:

Deck:

on helium bag:

total model weight( sans bag) 93 grams

Used very thin clear plastic for much of the body work. Deck is a picture ofwood planking glued to top. Houses and chain wheels are cut from the original kit’s deck.

forgot to metion that the wheel and observation deck are pictures reduced in size. The observation deck is a pic of a real victorian living room. The rails are zip ties with bare metal gold foil then flat black painted. I then used a cloth to wipe away the black showing the highlighted areas.

I love this project!!!

Any flight-testing yet? (Since you attached it to the bag, I’m presuming you couldn’t have resisted.)

no real flight tests. Turns out there is a shortage of helium right now. but will post a video when II can fly it.

That is awesome. I have wanted to do a steampunk model, just don’t have a good idea yet. Maybe I should review my covers of some of my Jules Verne books (paperbacks which do have good cover art).

Please keep us updated- that’s just plain cool!
