Steadier Hands For Modeling

Hey All,

Between a day of work and driving, I find that my tension level can get rather high. And that can mean having shaky hands for modeling and figure painting.
For the past few months I’ve been listening to relaxation tapes (non-subliminal), and I find my hands are MUCH more steady for building and painting. I listen to two tapes, and it only takes about an hour, and I’m rock solid for fine detail.
I got my tapes from my doctor as part of my stress management program. It’s making a difference in my modeling.

Glad to hear your’re getting what sounds like some much-needed relief! By the way, welcome to the forum. We look forward to hearing from you.

Believe it or not caffine does it for me… Keep that Diet Coke a flowing…

Mountain Dew! About 6-8 a day, just wish I could sleep! Been thinking of those “earth sounds” tapes, y’know, birds n’ wind n’ rivers.

The funny thing is that drives my wife up the wall. I can laydown and fall asleep in moments 9 or 10 times. She can’t have caffine after dinner…

The said thing about this addiction is that if I try and miss a day cold turkey, on purpose or not, I get massive head aches…[xx(]

A good hour or two of shooting large caliber weapons usually make me a little more steady.[:D] Unfortunately, I don’t get a whole lot of time for my old stress reliever…between work and urban sprawl in the area.

Thirty-minutes of music in the car on the way home is a good stress reliever for me (especially if I get stuck in traffic).

I have the same problem.

I usually put the headphones on and load the CD player with a mix of music. I keep the remote handy so that if the music doesn;t suit that part of the build, I just change the CD! Works pretty well for me.

I have many of the same problems. My entire family has the distinct knowledge that the only thing running through my veins is Dr Pepper. It’s to the point that I have to have one and a cigarette before I can relax. I don’t get sugar highs, I get lack of sugar depressions. Headaches aren’t really a problem, though.

For a nice calming CD, try Enigma. Very cool.

That was a good one, i have been drinking Coke all my life, i can drink a can and go right to sleep. I hace to limit my wife’s coffee to one cup per day or she is a wreck. My hands are pretty steady, it just my eyes (48 years old) have start giving me trouble, but i solve. A good friend dad was a watchmaker, when he pass away he left his jewerly (glasses) that have interchangeable lenses to do different strenghs (ie 2x 3x 4x 5x).

Meditation is a great way to reduce stress and enhance your modeling skills. It really helps me to focus.
