This build will take me longer than the 48 hour Hellcat! I’m adding some AM items and thinking about moving some control surfaces.
Here is my subject from the Eagle Strike Corsair Collection III. Tri-color camo, red bordered insignia, and Pirate flag what more could you want in a Corsair?
Here are some of the AM items I’ll be adding: (A) the True details cockpit, made for the Tamiya kit but fits suprisingly well into the Arii kit. (B) the engine from a Verlinden Corsair detail set, fits perfectly into the cowling no trimming at all. (C) Moskit exausts, first time using these items. I’m not sure how I will mount them??
Well, here’s hoping for cold weather and rain for this weekend!
Dumb question after re reading your post. Out of curiosity, how are you planning to mount the engine. I have a couple of Corsairs to do, also. The Arii/Otaki engine IS pretty lame. I have a Quick Boost engine face for the kit coming from Roll Models, but I have some other kits that I want to change out the engine.
This change is easy. All I have to do is remove the molded on slots for the engine bulkhead in the cowling. In the Arii kit the engine is just a front so the engine bulkhead is much to close to mount a full engine. By omitting the bulkhead you can attach the Verlinden engine to a spacer (about 1/8") and attach that to the front of the fuselage. The radius of the cowling is perfect in this one.
