started to build the Revell Messerschmitt Me-109G but i got some things to ask too

hey all,

i got few things to ask about this kit,

  1. how do u make the cockpit look real like in the instrument panel and stuff like that?? b/c they didnt give me any decals for the inside part whatever

  2. if any1 did this kit give me some info what i will be running into in this kit if it has any problems it needs to be fixed and stuff

  3. paint, can i use like silver for the Aluminum b/c i dont got that color and tell me if im right on this i dont got dark green, black green, dark gray or light blue so…i was thinkin mixing like black & green together same as making dark gray too or something but give me some better way to make the paints i need if u want

this my frist time building a aircraft so…i will keep u all up to date on how i am doin on it and i will be posting pics too

First, which scale are you building?.. 1/72 Me-109’s instrument panel is very little, so you can’t do so much… but I don’t know about that… if you want to know how to paint your German planes, visit http://www.swannysmodels.com/Painting.html … thanks to Swanny for this great site…

the 1:48 scale kit made by revell

Another thing… I know that the 1/72 Tamiya Bf-109E-3 comes with decals for the instrument panel… maybe there is a Tamiya '109G that comes with these decals…

i like to have the decals if i can find any but i maybe will just do the instrument panel by a file paint brush and find away make it look good but one program is findin a site with the instrument panel from the aircraft so…i know what color to paint but i havent found a site yet =) if any1 know any plz post the links

and other thing i like to paint with a airbrush and a paint brush can i do the inside all with a paint brush will it come out lookin good with a paint brush that what i am askin =P

im working on the Revell Messerschmitt Me-109G 1:48 scale, i got it tape to see if the body of the plane will match up but it dont it like out of line with the other side so…i wanna know what can i do to fixed this problem?

and if any1 know any sites on this aircraft with pics or got pics to post up plz do b/c i want to get the inside of the aircraft painted right so…it will look good =)

Good luck on this venture I’ll have a look at one of the other sites i use see what they have for you ,
I’m doing a revell kit myself had the same problem with the wings ,
I filed off the pins matched them up then glued them so far they look OK ,

thx for your reply & links

casey the revell/monogram 109g is a decent kit. the pit isnt bad out of the box. you can use drybrushing and a toothpick dipped in paint to get the detail. the fit is not bad. something i do is to glue the upper wing to the fuse before i glue the lower. it helps with the fit and leaves a very small seam if any. take your time and dry fit a lot. with patience you will have a good build. any help i can give please email, will be happy to help any way i can.

thx for your reply =)

fightnjoe, did this kit have any putty work need to be done to it or anything like that???

I like to first paint my entire cockpit in the base color- in this case RLM grey (a dark grey will do if your not picky). To get the right instrunment dials and panels black, I use a Sharpie black marker. I will than pick off individual dials and knobs with the right color and a fine brush.

Another technique for highlighting fine detials such as in the cockpit is drybrushing. First, use a lighter color than your base color. Use a short, stiff brush and aggressivly swipe paint on a disposable piece of cardboard or such until theres just hardly any paint comming off (thus the "dry"brushing), now brush over your detail with that and viola! The detail is nicely highlighted! Very simple and effective.

very little. make sure you dry fit and sand where needed. that will save you much hassle.

You may want to find some after market decals… I have this model in the unbuilt pile and if I remember there’re no balenkruz included… it depends if that matters to you or not.
