Are you in the Spitfire Group Build? If not join up.
Roy
Thanks for the information Roy. I went through the Group Build posts and saw a lot of nice work. It started in July so maybe I’ll post a pic of mine there when I’m finished it…
Bill.
Can’t wait to see pics of that!
10,000 Bonus Ninja Points for the Spitfire build- can’t have too many of those! [:D]
That ARII kit builds into a pretty nice model if you play to its strengths, which are nice engraved detail and accurate outline. On the other hand, the cockpit and prominent landing gear lack detail and the decals could do with a little upgrade.
Spits have that loverly cockpit access hatch, which is tempting to model open - and show off the cockpit detail. The ARII lets you down there, since it has little office “doings,” so you will have to work to achieve a cockpit worthy of display. Ditto the landing gear, which sort of jut out in front for all to see.
Since you already find the smaller scale a challenge, I suggest you shoot for a good paint job and decal work, above all else. Keep the canopy closed and just add a few fiddly bits to the landing gear area.
