Star Wars - Yavin Rebel Base Flatpack Diorama/Playset

Hi folks! With only little time to spare, and with space at a premium, I thought I’d make a flatpack playset that the kids can play with.

I’ve added some custom painted craft - namely the Falcon an x-wing and y-wing.

The result is a simple and large playset that folds flat for stoage. The kids love it!

The next step is to create the Hoth Base on the reverse side! All you’ll need to do is flip everything over and viola, 2 playsets in one.

If anyone wants to make this, I’ve posted the decal sheets here:

Neat idea! I have two young girls that love Star Wars. Thanks for posting the decals - will check them out.

I like the paint job on the spaceships. Nice weathering.

Thanks Russ,

The paint job was really easy - I’ve found that Acrylic paints are great for weathering, the fact that they are water based makes them far easier to work with.

I used a colour called Anthracite (a greyish black), and a faily stiff, medium width modelling brush. I slightly watered down the paint and liberally applied it over an area of the craft.

As soon as I had appliued the paint I got a piece of paper kitchen towel and wiped away as much of the paint as I could. This left paint in the inaccesable areas, around detailing and in the panel lines. If I wanted to exaggerate an area I just used the paint neat.

Just be careful not to paint too large an area as the paint dried quickly.
