Star Wars III

I can’t beleive no one started a thread devoted to Star Wars III! So what are you guys thoughts on the movie? Any new kit ideas? Please try to beconsiderate with spoilers for those who have not seen it. I loved it, not perfet of course , but compair to the last two fiascos i love it. It was good to see Anakin grow up a bit. Though I have one major complaint, and that is that i felt that the actual Vader transformation was rushed, as was a coupled other things…

I’m glad to hear that people are liking it more than the first two. I didn’t really care for them at all. I hope this one is better. Apparently this one has lots of good model potential. Have you guys seen the Sideshow statue of the new hand to hand bad guy? Don’t click if you want a surprise in the theater (and have been living under a rock! [(-D]):

Have to agree with Larry: “lots of good modeling potential”. Not only that, since its all unfortunately CGI [:(] We could get ahold of the meshes (I don’t know how myself really) and then have lots of good scratchbuilding potential. If you have the mesh the scratchbuild is simple IMO.

I seriously want an ARC-170 model. That thing is COOL. Since it reminds me so much of the P-61, I’m probably gonna build one up (when they come out, of course) as a special ops , all black bird.

The movie was pretty good. I agree things seemed to rush at the end, and the “NOOOOOOOOOOO” was laughable. (heck, laughable doesn’t even begin to cover it. That outright ruined the movie for me!) But overall it was a major leap over I and II.

I want a Boga model…

(As for the movie, I enjoyed it )

So, if I really liked Ep I and II, (not to mention IV, V, and VI) then I’ll really REALLY like this one?
Woo-hoooo!

…geez, you guys make me feel like a complete idiot becuase I actually liked the first two (I and II)! [D)]

Anyway, I still won’t get to see III until July 9th, when it FINALLY opens here in Japan!

I refuse to buy the $10 pirated DVDs already available here in the streets.

Did anyone notice the Millennium Falcon in Episode III. It was after the big opening battle. It was small, like the wideo was taken from far away. It shows it landing at a landing port on Coruscant.

Did not notice that. I remember reading reading somewhere in a semi-official source that there was a rumor going around that the Milllenium Falcon was once the covert personal transport of Palpatine. Obviously, one of those things that never panned out (like the Wookies all have Jedi powers) but still interesting, if you are into that whole alternate history/what if thing.

you’re all full of it, vader lost his limbs in a freak lawn-mowing accident. he later lost his left ear to a disgruntled pencil sharpener.

i thought the effects were good but the acting was horrendous, the dialog was poorly written and even the actors that you know can act still tended to do a poor job for which i blame lucas’ directing abilities. anakin pretty much pouts and whines the whole time, he was more mature in the first movie.

it’s still a better movie than the first two though, or maybe i just haven’t seen those in a while. not saying it was a waste of 146 minutes though. [:)]

Oh thank God! I can dismiss the spoiler as a rumor and enjoy the movie now! [(-D]

That’s what I’ve heard the Brits have been saying about the movie. The American reviewers have been kinder, but even they point out that the dialogue will make you squirm on occasion.

Hell, I’ll probably see it anyway. [:p]

Bad Dialogue is characteristic of all the Star Wars films. There have been some good one liners along the way, but no one will ever accuse Lucas of writing good Dialogue. Over all the film was enjoyable, tied up some loose ends and some of the disconnects opened by the first 2 prequels. It added a few more disconnects, but I don’t think Lucas went and looked at the Original 3 films at all before he wrote these three. I think it is worth seeing in the theaters on the large screens.

Steve

I think the guy who played Anikin was MUCH better and more mature in this picture but he was still a bit child like. Some one recomended seeing the first two movies but don’t forget The Clone Wars cartoon. It fills in the gaps between the second movie and this one. Any one notice that Clone Wars explains Gen. Grievious’s “condition” he seemed to have? I beleive it was because Mace Windu gave him a chronic case of the Force in Clone Wars. (I think that is vague enough not to be a spoiler.[8)]) If you notice GG behaves “differently” than in the cartoon though he was still formidable.
I missed the Falcon, I’ll have to keep an eye out next time I watch it there ws just so much motion going on in those previous scenes i don’t see how anybody caught it!LOL

jees… my stupidity results in a bunch of verbal gun shots!
sorry people… deleted my post.
I figured that when I posted, almost all of the people will know because of the many clues given in the star wars products such as books and flashmovies (there’s a great Lego movie of it on www.Lego.com)
it’s these things that make me want to crawl into a hole and never post again… sigh.
I bet someone’s gonna say something about how much of a coward I am or how much of an idiot I am!
as I have deleted my post, Larry, you might want to delet the quote to NOT GIVE IT AWAY ANY FURTHER[xx(]

I personally liked it and can not wait to see it again. I agree that there were some things that were bad but overall… a great movie and was not disappointed. I thought better than the first 2.

i realy liked the film and my 6 year old son realy enjoyed it (but we went to enjoy a film not to pull it apart)
the acting was ok (its the same as all the other star wars films)
its a shame they have to bring out new ships and not mix some of the older ships in (like the jedi starfighter, i preferd the Esp 2 version to the Esp 3 fighter)

You’re just constantly being persecuted, aren’t you? [;)]

Definitely, but since the mood of the first series was basically light-hearted – old-style derring do action movies – it was campy good fun.

Now that the movies take themselves so seriously, the bad dialogue stops being fun and becomes truly mortifying.

There’s no spark of an entertaining spirit in the recent movies – it would get in the way of Huge Money Being Made.

Larry, you are so right. I came out of ROT$ “merely” unhappy with the film, and the more I think about it the worse I realize this movie is. And it’s not even ENTERTAINING in any way -as a tragedy, adventure, or myth - it fails on every level except for having mega-million dollar fx. It destroyed what respect I used to have for characters like ben kenobi and Yoda. I’ve had it with $tar War$.

It’s quite interesting how varied opinions seem to be about this film. It appears that the majority of opinions are very favorable (I’m including opinions I’ve read on other sites, reviews, and reports from friends back in the States who have seen it), but apparantly plenty of folks dislike Ep III along with Eps I and II, and evidently the whole SW universe in general.

No real point to this post, other than to ponder how different we all are, and how different our perspectives and opinions can be.

Well, at least we all like modelling here!

Sorry guys but I myself am waiting with bated breath for War of the Worlds. Went to see episode 3 today and agree that the first 25 minutes are the best bits of Sci Fi cinema mayhem and CGI since 2001. The less said about the acting the better. What SIR Christopher Lee was thinking I don’t know. Probably thought if Sir Alec Guiness can do it so can I.
