This is the Marco Enterprise Tricorder kit from the 1980’s.

I picked it up on ebay a few years ago while he was liquidating some old stock.

I bought 2 sets of parts, not a complete kit and put it on the shelf.

I sorted through it the other day to see what I had.

I have most of what I need to complete 1 tricorder.

I aslo got this chassis that was started.

There was some overspray on the center plate that needed cleaning. Some fine sanding sticks and care cleaned that up.

I washed and masked the data disc stack.

Then primed/painted with semi gloss black.

It installs with a single screw.

The doors are next.

Full scale I assume? Tis should be cool.

I have the old (1/3 scale?) simplified version from the ‘Exploration’ set…but have never quite gotten around to building it.

Yours looks a leg and a half beyond that…and I like the little Edith Keeler graphic for the vid screen.[Y]

It’s full scale and mostly the correct shape. Both unlike the Exploration set.

I got the doors on today.

The positioning of the doors is interesting. The doors need holes drilled for the brass rod hinges. The gaps all need to be close.

One other issue is the mid door rubs on the divider. I’ll have to trim the divider or the door.

That’s awesome!!

I dressed as Dr. McCoy for a Halloween party years ago, I could have really used that with my costume!

Anyway the Tric is finished!

I ended up using a faceplate I found on eBay.

One stop shopping, I got the watch jewels, T-jets, and the brushed face plate.

The aftermarket is on the left.

I wanted the prop on set look. I think I got it.

As a comparison here it is next to the DST tricorder.

The Marco is bigger than the DST. I’m guessing the DST is closer, but the Marco “feels” right in my hand.

And, Finally after 45 years, I have the Exploration Set that I thought AMT was selling me!
