I saw star decals M3 beute halftrack for the afrika korps decal sheet on eBay. The halftrack looks like an M2 in the picture, am I wrong or is the StarDecal company wrong. If I’m wrong could someone point me to a good kit, I’m very much interested in making an M3 adorned itch fallschirmjager riders !
US forces in Tunisia had both M2 and M3. AFAIK 8th Army only had M3s, and not many.
After a quick primer on the M2 and M3 halftracks, I’d say Star Decal got the illustrations correct, looks to me they are M2. The mistake was labeling the set as M3.

Dragon did release an M2 in 1996, but you best read reviews, or if someone else comes along to provide a comment.

yeah I think it’s an M2 the only difference between the M2 and M3 was the M3 had an elongated haul.
