SS Central America

I’m looking for plans, drawings and any information on the steam/schooner SS Central America, originally known as the George Law. Any scale will do. This ship was carrying a huge cargo of gold from Calif. when it sunk in a storm off the Carolina coast in 1857. The wreck was discovered around 1987?

You might try the Smithsonian … they have extensive plans records. You want the Ship’s Plan List of the Maritime Collection which are the civilian vessels. Maybe also Bluejacket or Dromedary or some of the other large ship model shops as they have plans services. A better source might be Taubman’s Plans Service, probably one of the largest plans catalogs around.
I understand the wreck is (or was) being salvaged?
Good luck in your search.
