SR-71 kit with detailed J58 engines

Does anyone know who made an injection molded SR-71 with detailed J58’s, including the

spike? I know I saw one on ebay last week (?), but was rushed and didn’t save the posting.

Thanks

I don’t know about any kit with detailed engines, but Meteor Productions just released a bunch of resin improvements for the Testors 1/48 kit.

Trumpeter’s 1/72 kit # 01601 of the SR-71 has two things that they call J-58 engines. They are somewhere between poor and terrible. The afterburner cones are fairly decent, but the rest is horrible. Very little detail and the biggest problem is the diameter. The real engine is pretty much a constant diameter from front to back. The kit engine is MUCH smaller at the inlet and then gets bigger towards the aft end. The kit also has a large inspection hatch in the upper part of the nacelle to show off the engine. This is not present on the real SR-71.

Thanks to both of you. It was the Trumpeter kit, sinced reissued as a Mini Hobby kit. I’ve found pictures, and the engines are terrible. Much as Yardbird78 described them.

Guess I’ll save my money.

I have the new CE engine set and can say they are very nice. They do not provide any internal details but excellent burner cans.
