Squiggly Wiggly Wing (Zwilling update No. 2)

Here’s another installment of Zwilling progress:

All the major decals are on. Just a few minor placards left.

Here’s all the stuff underneith- RATOs, Hs 293s, Bv L10s, and antennas. All were a blast to put on!

And here it is with the finished fuselage. You know what? I think I might actually finish this thing!

If you’ll notice, I did something that might rub some people the wrong way. I have a “hot” aircraft (weapons fully loaded) with engines running- and open maintenence panels. Incorrect, yes, but those BMWs are too great to hide! (I had to hide six of them already!)

I hope you liked this latest update. Stay tuned for the finished product coming soon to a forum near you! [:D][tup]

I ROCK! FIRST TO REPLY! anywho, very good looking, can’t wait to see the done deal.
LEGENDS!

right on man… finish her up

Wooooah Mike!! That thing is almost cleared to taxi! [:)]

Beautiful (and tedius) work has paid off, great job! Look forward to seeing the completion.

Take care,
Frank

Man that is just beautiful… I think I have been seeing the early pic in your sig since I joined here about a yr ago… but that thing is just awe inspiring…

And as far as the ordnance and open panels… I dont see a prob! show us all of it at once! Rules are for sissies! Who knows maybe the crew chief forgot to once-over it before they took off and they flew open! [;)]

excellent paint job by the way…

Incredible !

Lucien - that thing is most impressive man.

Chris

Very impressive work. Looks like you are going to triumph.

Regards, Rick

Bravo! That baby appears to be looking to sink some shipping, yes sir, lots of shipping going down.

OH MY GOD… its so big so…so …so BIG!! i love it i just hope none of you props fly off when its running you might have to order more replacement parts!!
thats so impressive and i dont know what else to say!

You sir, are a steely-eyed modeling madman…

Great stuff!

Fade to Black…

That is a bad-ass bird!! You are definately certifiable!!

Looking good Lucien.

Thanks, everybody. The photo quality in my basement is terrible. Once this is done I’d like to take it outside and get some better quality shots. The last major obsticals left- soldering the last two connections, and cleaning up the (really icky) fuselage to wing joint. I can get in the paint shop this weekend, and should get it finished middle of next week.

Looking good…did you use a resin wing insert or is all that from two styrene kits?

Fantastic job on the monster. I cannot imagine the # of hours and total effort to create that machine. Don’t worry about the maintenance, ordnance and running motors all at once. SAC used to be very emphatic about only one of the three items, (maintenance, fueling or loading ordnance), taking place at any given time. They started some experiments with combining all three for fast turn arounds and with some care and planning, it works. Looking forward to seeing the finished results.

That thing could sink a whole convoi all by itself!

mpatric- The new wing section is purely scratchbuilt. It’s a huge styrene sandwich sanded roughly to shape, with a thinner layer of styrene covering it (so I don’t have to mess with seams).

Thanks again, everybody. I have no idea how this would have fared if it had been built. On one hand it’s a monster. But on the other, not only would maintenence be a pain in the rear, I couldn’t even imagine the stresses on the center wing, especially since the tails aren’t connected. I could easily see it cracking in half in mid-air. Who knows? Yes, it could have been the anti-shipping terror that finally brought Britian to her knees, or one more hopeless fiasco. Thankfully, nobody had to find out.

Looks great, I hope the model goes well.

How the heck do your follow this project!!

It’s your magnum opus!

Dan
