Squadron Scale Colors acrylic paints

Squadron has purchased the Scale Colors line of acrylic paints from Jeff Herne (a former FSM editor) and is now producing and selling them through their site. Jeff remains as a consultant. They have a list of 300 current and proposed colors shown on this link.

The product line also includes some figure fleshes and fantasy colors (not shown). Those colors listed on a white background are available now. Those highlighted in tan are phase 2. The plan is to have them available in time for the IPMS USA Nats in August.

I have been using these paints for USN colors for the past 4 years. They are acrylic and are optimized for airbrushing. They perform very well. You can hand touch-up small areas, but hand brushing a whole model is not recommended. They dry quickly to a hard surface. They cleanup with water, windex, or alcohol. They come in 15ml bottles like Vallejo-style. Primers, washes, and clears come in larger (2 oz) bottles.

My 2 cents – I like them.

Thank you WhatIfRebel! I’ve been doing sailing ship models for a while now and I’m thinking of doing some modern (WWII) warships this Summer so I’ll definitely be looking up these paints now.

This is timely, as I just purchased a few bottles for upcoming projects.
