Serch in the tube…!Ciao Enrico
I add a drop or two of gold in my black for airbrushing a simulated carbon fiber finish.
Hi
Do you spray the part black then mask and spray the silver or the other way around? also what masking material do you use to get the carbon pattern? I searched youtube but couldnt come up with any reccomendations for small car parts only really big stuff.
Thanks
JH
In the link I posted the fellow seems to use a piece of kitchen carpet…the rubber ones.Ciao Enrico
thanks Enrico
the parts i want to spray are very small like the suspension arms on an F1_2000 ferrari’ i think the weave of the material on the clip may be too big. thanks for the link though as it was very helpful for the techniqe of using spraymount.
How about trying some fine gauze, the kind you use for medical purposes? The video was great and I have to try it. Some people use decals as well (seems like cheating).

If the model is in 1:25 scale or smaller (typical auto scale) then I don’t think the pattern is as important as getting the right color. I think many of the decals that have a pattern have a pattern that is considerably exaggerated as to size. Normal carbon fiber weaves are pretty small and not that visible unless you look pretty closely.
However, that always brings up the question as to whether the appearance of a model should be technically accurate, or true to what “you expect to see,” as in enhanced panel lines, rivets, etc.
