Could someone please tell me what ,if any the visual differences were between the “normal” Spit Mk9 wing (one with inboard cannons) and the Mk9 E except for the outboard cannons on the E?
Hasegawa 1/48 Mk9 E kit supplies an extra set of gunbay covers with the blisters inboard witch I can only think would be to make it a standard Mk 9?

On the “E” wing, the cannon was moved out, to the outboard fairing, and, at the same time, was moved back, to take its ammuntion from the rear tray.
The .5" Browning replaced it, with just the muzzle visible in the stub fairing (though it was usually covered by a fabric patch, when the guns were loaded and cocked - same applied to the cannon muzzle.)
The outer two machine gun compartments were left empty (except in the low-back XVI, but that’s another story,) and the holes in the leading edges, along with the “empties” chutes underneath, were covered by a double layer of (plain, not red) fabric patches.
When the cannon moved out, the fairing was shortened by about 6", and the narrow blister was also moved out, and back, so the top cover to the cannon bay will need alteration. Underneath, the holes, for the “empties” chutes will need modification, as well.

Thanx. As I understand it the Mk9’s basically had “C” type structure wings with the guns and cannons changing position but " visually’ the wing structure (shape and panellined were the same)
I have blister panels for both the inner and outer positions so if I wanted to do the 9 with the cannons inboard it could be done without being wrong??
Is this logic sound or am I sitting the pot totally miss LOL!?
