Hi, back again with my latest offering.
Spitfire MkIXc in the markings of 64 Sqn circa 1943.
The kit is based upon the Airfix offering, good in terms of overall shape but completely devoid of any cockpit detail etc. I corrected this by the use of a photoetched detail set from Airwaves, although designed to be used with the Hasegawa kit it worked ok for me. I was hoping to post some pics of the cockpit but my camera doesn’t have sufficient focal depth for close up detail shots and all efforts turned out blurry. The detail set also has some excellent parts to pose the flaps down, but the kit itself did not lend itself to the use of these, but at least I still have these for future builds. Also included the detail kit had a access hatch for the R/T I was able to use this and I think this adds a little interest to the build, additionally I scratchbuilt some R/T bits for inside but again due to problems with camera described above I am not able to post pics of this. I also used a vacform canopy from Squadron and some weighted wheels from True Details to finish off the kit. Cost of kit £3.99, cost of AM £9.60!!! However well worth it for me as I feel I have improved the kit as much as I could.
