Spatless Ju87

Can anyone tell me if there is a “Spatless” Ju87 out there? (Kit I mean!). All the kits seem to be of the spatted type. Also is there a Merlin powered kit of the 87 available[?]
Dai

I don’t know of a kit, but in 1/48th Cutting Edge has resin gear and wheels for the “spatless” stukas.

Italiari made a spatless ju78 in 1/72. I picked it up when I was in London last summer at hannants.

Dai, Why would you want a Merlin powered Ju87?? I’ve never heard of it being tried, at least in 1/1 scale.
If you can’t live without one then maybe you could adapt the cowlings from a Firefly or Hurricane ?

Pete, Actually that was a mistake on my part the Ju87V1 was powered by a Kestrel engine. This aircraft was also fitted with a twin fin and rudder. Tail flutter caused the destruction of the 'plane. After redesign of the tail the Jumo engines were used. I’m always on the lookout for unusual colour schemes or aircraft in service with opperators that people are not familia with. ie Ju52/C79 Bf108 with Us serials and paint schemes.
Dai.

okay, I’d forgotten the Kestrel prototype.
I’ll keep a couple of brain cells going & try to think of some really unusual
aircraft for you.
All the best

Sorry guys but whats a “Spatless” Ju87???

The early Ju87s were fitted with “trousers”. Later models had “spats”. In the field these were removed to aleviate the problem of mud or snow preventing the wheels from turning. Therefore “spatless”. (The wheel covers were removed.)
