Sparmax have told me to keep the Tamiya Airbrush cleaner away from the o-rings.
Such a bummer - can’t replace the o-rings myself and now I’m up for two new nozzles.
Anyone had a similar experience?
What sort of paint are you cleaning out of your airbrush? If you’re using Tamiya acrylics, you don’t need to us anything stronger (or more expensive) than metho.
Yikes. I just saw the price of Tamiya airbrush cleaner in Australia. Wow, it must be distilled from unicorn tears or something.
Thanks for the advice about metho. I’m only using acrylics.
I have thought I should ditch the Sparmax, but with two of them, I’ve made a significant investment. I might try to call the distributor today. Doesn’t seem right that the o-rings last just hours.
My Ganzton airbrush O rings are in tough shape too, I just seal it up with bees wax on assembly and they haven’t ripped any further. Even if they did and I tossed them the bees wax would probably work fine. In some of the airbrush tune up tips for Chinese airbrushes they suggest doing that.
If you knew the size you could probably get some tougher O rings in nitrile, neoprene or silicone online someplace. With my Ganzton I don’t use the thing enough to bother personally. I stick with my Badger or Paasche for the most part. I rarely use double action.
