Dear Jim, John, Eric, Knox ,
Thank you very much for your pozitive and…I must say - very “supportive” comments!
It work good…very good for me , pushing to continue this experiments …and stimulates to complete it…in near future ! :))) … hope in two years it will be done! … must be !.. otherwise I will never open the box with another kit [::DD0][:D][:D][:D]
when I purchased this kit long time ago…smth. in 2003…and began to assemble it approx in 2009, I absolutely didn’t realise how long will it take and how much information abt galleons of Spanish Armada era( that time of famous fight between Spanish and English fleet in 1588) I will obtain later on…in the begining , I just liked the picture on the box cover and scale …big enough for convinien work with model …thats all,for that time…
and only much later, when the hull was clued and almost complitely painted but I had steady internet connection all in all, huge Wave and waves a little bit less in size ,of information of galleons, their constraction, rigging, fighting equipment and so on…covered me over my head…
and I 've found that this plastic kit,as represantation of galleon ,never mind ,spanish or english or what else nation ,is absolutely wrong in hull constraction and rigging arrangements…but I can’t stop and give up my project, just began to add some details ,which I known from various sources, could be present on galleon of that time, and did some minor …how it called…scratch build?
some of them were found incorect later on as well,as soon as more reliable info came…so at the сеrtain moment ,this process seems to be endless …and I decided to stop with corrections, but to concentrate on riggging only… at least, there is Anderson book abt 16-17 rigging was found, which entire covered all my questions abt galleon rigging at the end of 16th century…additional information I found in very detailed pictures of Dutch artists of that period…foundvthem very helpfull ,in lack of info of spanish shipbuilding metods of that period represented in english language…at least I didn’ find such, in free ecces for download in internet…in the same quality as A.B.Hoving books of Dutch ship buildings of period , for example…which are also I could consider as very or even Extra ! helpfull in studing galleon period, especialy if take in consideration that Dutch in that period occupated world leading pozition in shipbuilding, and all other nations just follow them in such respect…in general ,lets say…
including Spain ,which in turn, in that time as well ,had part of modern Holland , under Spanish crown authority…
here is link to my “galleon arhive + other relevant info” ,info which I collected from internet …may be it will be usable for those of our colleagues who are busy or has intention to build galleon model…
