Soviet Lieutenant, Red Army 1942

This was a 1/12 scale basic resin bust from Nocturna Model, with no clothes nor hair. Green Stuff and Apoxie Scuplt putties were used to create the clothing, while viscose (a fiber material used in the doll making hobby/business) was used to make the hair.

Jack,

Absolutely, fantastic work! Her clothing is spot on!

That is very realistic. It doesn’t look easy! Absolutely fantastic work.

Oh wow that’s beautiful Jack!

Fantastic job there on the sculpted uniform and cap. The hair material looks great. And finally you knocked the paint job right out of the park!!!

I swear a certain German field marshal who used to post here would be offering to marry her if he were still around…[:D]

Well, she is kinda hot

Thank you Cliff and Raulduke. [B]

“hot” … yeah, someone on another forum said he was in love and wanted her phone number - lmao.

Wow! Fantastic work.

Oh yeah!

Figure modelling at its finest! You seldom get to see a women’s face depicted this well in scale! Congratulations!

Excellent Jack!! Very artistic rendition. Hey, we need more figure modellers at club. If you are near Hamilton come out to the Warplane Museum(Hanger) last Wed. of the month. Event this month so Oct. 4 at 7:00 pm. Cheers

OldSalty

Hi OldSalty, thanks and thank you for the invite to your club. If I’m ever near those parts will definitely go check it out.

The flesh colors look real. One might think it was a real face if they didn’t see the bust features

Hello Wood, thanks for checking her out.

For the flesh, started out with an overall dark green, but this was the acrylic set:

The flesh tones and blending are very well done. Does the viscose material work in other scales?

Really nice piece!

Thank you keavdog.

Scale wise, I think it could work with smaller figures, for replicating staight hair anyways - not sure how to curl this stuff. The strands are definitely much finer then you normally find on sculpted figures.

Also need some proper glue - I was using a craft glue that dries glossy and hence darkens the hair colour. It was suggested to me afterwards to try Mod Podge Matte glue.

Here is also a video of how the hair is built up in strands, but there is also a simpler method some doll makers use where one huge tuft hair is utilized by creating a part down the middle.
