Someone help with A-10 Thunderbolt color information?

I have a question on the primer coat that would have been on the A-10 Thunderbolt.

Should I post in the aircraft forum?

I cannot find the picture now, but I thought I saw a picture of an A-10 with paint chipping off, and the base color appeared to be a color like zinc chromate yellow (I know zinc chromate is not really a color, but you know what I mean). Does anyone know if this is accurate, or was I dreaming?

These pictures here do in fact show that funny color green as a primer!

Also wondering about the door in the side of the fuselage where the ladder fits. From what I can tell from the model instructions, it opens down, but the molding makes it look as though there is a hinge that would mean it swings out, rather than down.

Thanks for any help.

Check out this walkaround for the ladder compartment door. It does indeed swing forward rather than down.

I cant speak for the USAF 100%. The only primer I saw on modern/contemporary US Army Aircraft for non crew areas was yellow tint Zinc Chromate. That is what those pics look like

Zinc chromate, ZnCrO4, where: http://www.colorserver.net/history/history-zinc-chromate.htm and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc_chromate
