Some interwar builds

Round 2 of my recent builds finally getting into the photo booth. This time aircraft from the interwar period 1919-1939.

First up, three 1/72 kits from Monogram circa 1967-69.

Curtiss F11C-2 Goshawk from the USS Lexington about 1934

Boeing F4B-4 from the USS Saratoga about 1934. Accurate Minitures reissue

Curtiss P-6E from the 17th Pursuit Squadron, Selfridge Field, MI about 1932. Accurate Minitures reissue

Revell joined in with a 1/72 P-26 in 1982

Boeing P-26A from the 94th Pursuit Squadron, Selfridge Field about 1934. Decals came from Starfighter decals.

Special Hobby 1/72 Grumman F3F-2, USMC about 1940. It is marked for Robert Galer who became an ace at Guadelcanal. It ditched off the California coast in 1940 in 1800 feet of water, it was recovered in 1990 and has been restored making it the only original F3F-2 in existance.

Finally for some international flavor, another one from the 80s.

Matchbox 1/72 Siskin IIIa RAF about 1929.

Great looking builds and you did a great job on the rigging.

I saw most of those A/C today at the USAF mueseum. I think that those paint schemes are some of the more interesting ones and I love the quriky shapes.

Excellent Builds & a great collection.

Regards, Rick

outstanding builds and a nice collection, love the a/c of that era, keep it up!

Talk about nostalgia! I remember those kits from a long time ago. Thanks for the memories, great looking little planes!

VERY nice![Y] I really like the P-6 with the talons on the spats. One of my favorite paint shcmes of the era.

Something differents to see !! [Y]

very nice work… only i prefered a little bit of whatering ,at least to show up some panel line.

Thanks.

I have only recently gotten interested with aircraft from this period, but I am really having fun with them. Aircraft designs only lasted a few years, and the US frequently adopted 2 or 3 different aircraft to serve in the same role so there is alot out there to model. The colorful markings have a lot of variety since each USAAC pursuit squadron had its own markings and Naval aviation had unique color combinations for each carrier group and squadron.

Great looking models. I could never do those because the rigging would drive me to violence. Guess that’s why I do armor. Less delicate stuff.
