Some info on the Stug III???

I’m looking for some good images/info on the Stug III b on the net, got the goods for a 1/48 on the way, any help would be great. Thanks, Jason

The net may be a large ocean of information, but it is not very deep. Google is going to scrape bottom pretty quickly on this one. I can recommend a few books if you want to try that route.

Cool, that would help =) Thanks, Jason

Schiffer Publishing has a book titled; Sturmgeschutz III - The Short Gun Versions, ISBN:0-88740-350-6, 46 pages, for about $10. It has about 10 large format shots of Stug III Ausf Bs and a full-page, profile line drawing by H.L.Doyle. Squadron publishes it’s Sturmgeschutz III in Action, though I don’t see an ISBN, also about $10. Moving up in price we have Schiffer’s The German Sturmgeschutz in World War II, ISBN: 0-7643-0693-6, 160 pages, about $25. And also from Schiffer; Sturmgeschutz and it’s Variants, by Walter Spielberger, ISBN:0-88740-398-0, 253 pages, for about $50.

Here are some pics i found on E-bay:

Jan,
That is a great link you got there.
It helps a lot with my Stug III build.

Thanks,

Ben

There is a nice book out there on the small guns like the man said…I forgot that I had it when I built mine. I have the Stug III (40-42) book from New Vanguard. It is a nice little reference with fine photos and renderings.

With the kit, what is up with the “smoke grenade launcher” on the back deck? I ended up using copper foil to give the box shape 4 sides. Otherwise, I liked the little monster. It builds up into a nice kit with few headaches.

Strange looking tracks in those first pics. What type are they?

Those are the early type tracks used in 1940/1941.

Fruilmodel makes them in white metal (ATL-03)

I’ll be using them for my stug 3B (1/35th)
