Does anyone have any good software they use to keep track of what they have? Does anyone have any ideas about the features you would hope to find in that piece of software?
You don’t need software, go to My Hobby Info: Build a Better Stash. It is a on-line spread sheet that you enter what you have. You can also export the file as an Excel spreadsheet and store on your computer. Follow the link http://www.myhobbyinfo.com/.
I keep an Excel Spreadsheet as a database, for completed models, with kit, mfgr, scale, and added details. Also, what contests I enter it in. That helps me fill out contest entry sheets, and allows me to avoid entering same model in same contest in different years (did I enter that model in that contest last year or not?)
The reason I ask is I am looking for a summer project and thought that a “Model Masters” program would be kind of cool.
After you download the Excel spreadsheet from myhobbyinfo.com you have a great starter spreadsheet to modify as you please.
I just use Excel for keep track of my stash, and more importantly, my wish list!
I started an inventory like this back in the early 80’s in one of those accounting notebooks with lots of rows and columns. Keep meaning to transfer it to a spreadsheet. Sad thing is 3/4 of those kits are still unbuilt! [:S]
