Soaking decals in future

Has anyone ever heard of soaking decals in future before applying them? I’m not talking about spraying future over them. I was looking in the Zero gallery at ARC and someone said that they had soaked the insignia in Future. They also included pictures and the decals settled into every panel line and rivet mark. They really did look painted on. I also read about it at swannysmodels but there were no first hand accounts of results. I have never tried the soaking technique and was wondering if anyone else had and what were their results?

Sounds interesting. Do you soak the decal after it is released from the paper or before?

Yes, some people do that but do not use a setting solution using that technique or you will have a lot of reaction happen. The Future will snuggle the decal down in most cases all by itself.

So I am assuming(I hate doing that!) that you do this before the decal is released from the paper? As in cutting the decal out soaking it then sliding it off of its backing directly onto the model?

That is what I am assuming as well. The article did not say. It just said that you can soak decals in Future before applying them.
