Better get the wallet for this one.
I’m going to pass for now
That’s a little more than $229
What? No Zuiho?
I’ve always been partial to Essex -class carriers or Soryu class myself.
Not enough rust…
Aircraft not included.
It should be illegal to sell a model aircraft carrier without planes, I mean what’s the point. I don’t want the dockside version, I want the underway one, especially for $35k. Maybe that’s just the ordnanceman in me, I only got to have fun while at sea.
Don’t know about an Aircraft carrier model, the Royal Navy just want a carrier. And this one is still cheaper than the ones we haven’t got yet.
I’ve seen two carriers that were scratch-built in 1/72 scale… One was the Nimitz, which was towed around by a Navy Recruiter, the other was a WW2 carrier that was for the museum at Oshkosh (featured in an old issue of FSM too)… Now, I’m not sure, but both likely came in at much less than 35 grand… That’s just ridiculous, man…
The Military Aviation Museum in Soesterberg used to have a 1/72 aircraft carier on display. A scratch build HNLMS Karel Doorman (Collosuss class) fully loaded with Gruman Trackers, Sea Furies and Sea Hawks. It was a very impressive sight but I think it is stored nowadays.
I wonder if they offer quantity discounts.
Now, they came up with one for 1/48 scale aircraft…maybe!!
They are a 20 minutes drive from my place. I’d love to see this behemoth in person. I believe that price is a mistake.
I think that the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum’s model of the USS Enterprise CVN-65 is, I believe, 1/72. Big, beautiful thing with all of the trimmings. Here is a link to a YouTube entry that someone posted. I can’t tell what scale it is without some kind of size reference.

Another video:
I wonder if they have an installment plan - “This amazing beauty could be yours for only 3,517 easy payments of $9.95 each!!!”
Way to expensive for me. You could by a used car for that price.
And it weights over 600 lbs.
What I want to know is…WHY?
Granted, it’s big. 7 1/2 feet long. Dirk Nowitski, the first human of comparable size that springs to mind, weighs 245 pounds.
Now…I don’t have any kits on this scale, but I built Tamiya’s 1/350 Enterprise as a kid, and it stil resides at my parents’ house. I’d guess it’s probably about as long, or maybe somewhat shorter, than my leg up to about mid-thigh. But I know that if I were to cut off and weigh my leg, it’d be a LOT heavier than that sucker. Same with, I don’t know, my foot and a tank.
So how exactly does this thing weigh 600 lbs? Was it carved from a solid piece of oak or something?
Also, aircraft not included is a pretty crappy thing to do. For $35K, I’d want an aircraft carrier capable of launching aircraft so I could project my power across the neighborhood.
I was thinking the samething. There is no way it could weight 600 lbs.
I don’t know, it had me confused to.
USED??? Oh my…Ive had my F-150 for 12 yrs now....don
t tell me used cars are 34K now!
