I made mine with polyfilla. Here is the result:
Woodland Scenics makes a product called Snow. It is made out of microballoons and looks great.
There’s a fantastic technique, which is really cheap as well, ive used it many times and am extremely happy with the results

Ditto to HeavyArty. Not only is it easy to find,But the 32 ounce container goes a very long way.I mostly do Dios, and The mileage is great. So if you do mostly static kits,1 large 32 ouncer would last a life time,or 1 heck of a lot of models. Semper fi, rudedog
Hey Yann,
The 88 looks good. What kit is it? Snow looks very real also!
Signifer has a snow product out there too.
Alright y’all, let’s not give this guy too much of a snowjob, eh? [:D]
Thanks. This is the Dragon’s 3 in 1 kit. Highly recommended. It got outstanding details and builds like a charm.
If you really want an inexpensive (cheap) snow use Arm and Hammer Baking Soda.
No offense pharaoh but the baking soda isn’t the best idea. Bugs tend to find it appetizing, and it takes on a yellowish tint over time. Woodland scenics stuff is basically guarunteed to remain insect free and retain its original color.
Ok, didn’t know that. I used it about a year ago, coated it with Dulcoat and so far so good. I’ll keep an eye on it.
Try a company called castacoat, They do a polymer based snow material. I know that games workshop also do a snow. AND IF ALL ELSE FAILS TRY SOME TABLE SALT SPRINKLED ON WHITE GLUE.
I agree.
When I was much younger I tried the baking soda trick on a Tamiya T-34 1942 version. The kit build and faded snow camo looked great, as did the snow for a year or so anyway. It never had any bug attacks but it did yellow quite a bit.

yann solo, GREAT SNOW!!, who needs snow products when you can this will polyfilla, err just “how”? did you do it??. absolutley beautiful!!
The idea is to plan your diorama carefully before proceeding. First place all the stuff on the wooden base just to make sure you like the scene. Then remove everything and smear the Polyfilla all over the place and shape it as you like. Then, let it dry but touch the surface once in while and when the top is dry but it is still smooth underneath, use the figures and equipment to create tracks and footprints in the snow. You can also reshape some area. Then set everything on it and let dry overnight. Once everything is fully dried, you can still shape it with sand paper or Dremmel tool.
I recommand using a special formula Polyfilla. It is made for deep holes and will not shrink or crack. I made this a while back ago and it is still as nice as it was originally. It staid white and didn’t crack at all.
Have fun.
I just used flour on my 1/144 diorama I just completed. I plan on replacing it with something better though, but I am happy with the results. It’s on the second page of the diorama forum if anyone wants to check it out.
How weird
Of the cuff I justed posted about snow products.
Check out Deltacrafts.com
heres my post about it in the painting section

98custom, you wouldn’t happen to like paintball would you?
Another material to try is powdered borax. It is a natural material used as a clothing laundering cleaner. The bugs won’t like it because it is also used as a roach killer ( even though it is not poisonous to humans and pets). [dinner] [BG] [#toast] It shouldn’t turn yellow either, but I’ve haven’t had a chance to test it.
