Snaps 1/16 Full frame JU87 G Stuka Build

If I’m not mistaken, that “bandwidth usage” warning is more to do with traffic rather than storage space. If I understand correctly, anytime one of us looks at one og your pictures, xxkb of traffic is recorded depending on the size of the photo. (I think!!) Multiply that “xx” by the number of pictures you have up there, multiplied by the number of people checking out said pictures… next thing you know you have the Photobucket Bandwidth Police on your tail!

not so many effectively, also photobucket removed the picture number limits [;)] problems probably is the too many traffic from your account to view the pictures as Vance says [Y]

I have about 2k pictures on my account

I am in the process of putting up a free website for both this and the zero. Whenever I post a build update I will also update the free website so hopefully everyone will be able to keep following the build and have pictures to look at.

I will have updates up to issue 16 available within the next day or so, and then I will have to wait for the next set of 8 issues to arrive which will be next week.

I do hope that you are all enjoying this build

James

One other thing that no one has mentioned is that file size of the picture relates to bandwidth usage. It isn’t necessarily the resolution of the photo though that is part of it. Thus making a photo that is slightly smaller and much more compressed as a file size could be part of the answer.

It is possible to have decent photos in 1280 x 1024 resolution for about 120k or so. There is a point where the picture degrades due to too much compression. Thus using that given resolution a file size of 500k will look great, but one of say 100k might be just as good and use 1/5 of the bandwidth.

no updates? :frowning:

Finally remembered to reply so I could follow this

is the free website up yet? or new pics? i’ve been following this with interest and am craving more!

Hi chaps.

I have a few issues to post now. I am sorry for the delay but I have not been too well and my ISP and I have been having connection problems. Everything is solved now (I hope!) and here we go with another few issues.

I am still building the free website. I have lots of catching up to do with it and I am not happy with my page format at the moment so please bear with me on that. When I am happy and it is up to day then I will letyou all know!

Here we go with Issue 14

This issues puts detail work on parts of the cockpit frame. Not much to say except that I worked carefully to fit them correctly.

The Parts

The Build

Once again, comments and questions welcome.

Issue 15 Build

Some more detail parts. Again I took care in the placing of these parts.

Issue 16 build

This issue builds the cover for the hydraulic connections. It goes together very easily

Once painted RLM66 this will be installed in the cockpit in the rear section.

Here we go with issue 17 build

This time we put some longitudnal struts on the frame on each side.

The parts

Two of the struts have to be bent so I saved them until last. The rest were easy to install and went into place without any problems. I would recommend removing them from the frame on a hard surface to avoid bending them.

As I said before, the parts that I had to bend I saved while last. The magazine has you putting them in first but I thought that it made more sense to work from the bottom up and so worked the instructions backwards. this actually made it easier for me to put he parts in place.

The struts that needed bending I bent carefully dry fitting multiple times to make sure that the bends were done correctly and it all went together with no problems.

There are some more struts to come at some point, but the next few issues looks like panels and control boxes for inside the cockpit.

Once again comments and questions welcome

James

Thanks for all your support chaps. It keeps me going so keep up with the encouragement

Issue 18 parts

Along with issue 18 we also have parts from issue 1 and the clear acitate sheet that forms the glass for the dials from issue 6.

THe build

That is the basic build.

THis is how it looks all together With a couple of extra coats of paint. It is unfinished at the moment there are lots of little buttons & levers etc to add. I Won’t be adding those until prior to installing it into the cockpit. Those who deal with these type of parts recognise that they will probably get broken off at some point and lost so what’s the use tempting fate.

There is a part missing from the parts photo. On emptying the packet a loose bit of tiny brass tubing escaped and bounced off the table and onto the floor where the under bench parts goblin was seen to dissapear with it. Once I can get onto my hands and knees with a bright light I may be able to retreieve it, else it is a replacement issue 18 for the part!

I will update this with more photos later on in the build.

James

Another update for you all

Issue 19 deals with the firewall and aft bulkhead.

I am not fitting these parts just yet, despite instructions as I want the space to be able to put in the bomb sight, any oil or fuel tanks and room to get my large fingers in to the gunners section for fitting the parts.

Here they are removed from the fret and bent to shape. All I have to do is prime and paint them and fix when ready. I have done a couple of dry fits, but they will have to be glued on properly to remain seated. For those who will end up building this if or when it is released here the fit of these two parts does depend on the accuracy of your frame build up to this point. Any bending or misalignment of the frame will result in these two parts not fitting properly so builders MUST take care with the alignment and fit of the cockpit frame and look for a 100% accuracy.

Issue 20

Oil tank

THe parts

The build

Not so hard this issue. Glue some fireboard together to start with.

Once dry sand it so that any ridges and nubs are gon and it is smooth

Bend the fixing straps to shape, starting with the curve at the front of the tank. These photos show dry fits. The actual gluing makes sure that the straps are in the correct place and alignment.

Put the four piece filler cap together

Stick it onto the top of the oil tank

Hey Presto! Ready for a priming and painting session

James

Hi chaps

A big oops with issue 21 and it is my fault. A monumental foul up at my end say the parts and build photos of this issue deleted! My apologies. Basically it is the same build as issue 20.

James

Issue 22 Build

The Parts.

The Build

We are now starting the cockput components and start with the mount for the pilots instruments.

At least up to build 32 are all components that fit into the cockpit and even at 1/16 some are small and I have to use my close up lenses.

Some of these parts here will have extra detailing put on in the next build

Issue 23 Build

The Parts

Not all these are used this build

The Build

Detail work is put onto components from the last build

Eventually these will be primed and painted RLM66 with other colours and placards as detailed from cockpit research.

More coming soon. Questions and comments welcome.

James

[:P] being to think that this kit reproduce the stuka in “all” pieces the real have!!!

it is a full frame metal kit (etched brass). and indeed, up to at least issue 32 is cockpit detail parts. the radios look really good.

I would like to also do wiring in the cockpit too, so if anyone out there as diagrams or photos of Stuka “G” cockpit wiring then please contact me.

James

Done!
