(Slot Car) Metal to styrene plastic model bonding question

Hi all,

I am building my first electric slot drag racing car. I am using a Polar Lights white styrene 1/25 funny car body which will be mounted to a tube chassis which I have constructed. The front of the chassis is mounted to the body with pins so I will be able to remove the body from the chassis. The back of the chassis is slotted to mount to a cross tube across the back of the body to facilitate removal of the body from the chassis. I mounted the cross bar to the inside of the body and it is also pinned from the outside. I countersank the pin heads slightly below the surface of the body, filled it in with melted styrene and sanded smooth. I would like to bond the ends of the cross bar to the inside of the body for extra reenforcement. What can I use that will bond to the crossbar as well as bond to the styrene? Would a dab of JB weld work on both materials? Or is there something better to use?

Thanks,

Charles

I’d use CA or epoxy.

Hawkeye,

Thanks for the reply. I will use the epoxy as I have that. I am new to this stuff however. For my information, what is CA?

Thanks,

Charles

CA is commonly called Crazy Glue. It’s sold in all hobby stores, hardware stores, Giant Foods, Acme, etc.

My choice would be the Epoxy.

Thanks for the reply. New to this kind of stuff and trying to learn the abbreviations.
