I am finishing this Tamiya Skyraider. It is in a blue scheme for a carrier deck during Korea. Anyone know what color the wheel wells would be on a sea blue painted plane? Corsairs are chromate green, I am not sure what to do this in. Also, I never thought about this. But, with a dark [scheme, one uses white numerals, not blue, correct? The decals supplied with the kit were for an overall grey scheme, thus they are black. I must find white markings, probably have them in my box of old decals.
I am thinking that they were white. But it would depend on the time frame you are modeling. Most later naval aircraft had/have white gear and wells to make it easier to see hydraulic leaks under red light conditions.
even with the overalll top and bottom blue scheme?
If you are building a Korean war Skyraider, you are looking at an unending sea (no pun intended) of that “sea” blue, wells, gear legs and all. There were changes and exceptions, but blue is going to be your color here.

Great, that is what I was thinking. I have painted the inner surface of the airbrakes red, all else is blue. This is a great kit.
