Skyraider and F4U Corsair in 1/48

Hi folks!

My name is Jan and I’m a Swede who needs some help.
I want to build the Skyraider and the F4U Corsair in 1/48, but I’m not sure what to use to superdetail them.
Is Aires Skyraider cockpit the best one?
Which one sould I use for the Corsair?
I also know that Cutting Edge (I think) has folding wings for the Skyraider, is there any for the Corsair?
How about bombs and rockets, gun bays etc. etc?

All the best!

Hi again.

I’m also trying to find bombs and rockets for these two and idea who has the best ones?
F4U Corsair WWII and Korea.
Skyraider Korea and Vietnam.

All the best!
Jan

Hey, I’m not too sure about the Corsair, but I’ve been in a Skyraider-building mood lately as well. For weapons, I’ve found that the Tamiya 1/48 kit comes with most of the typical loads carried by the Spad. Also, I frequently use the Hasegawa weapons sets. Check the internet for reference photos–there’s some great pictures out there of typical weapon’s loads for Vietnam Skyraiders.

Hope that helped.

Janswede,

Engines & Things in Canada make excellent resin engines for the models that you’re building. They seem to make a model for just about any aircraft engine that’s ever been produced, including jets. Their website is:

I’ve bought a few engine kits from them, and have been pleased with what they make. Their prices are very reasonable (usually $7 - $10 for most engines), and they have a reasonably quick turn-around time.
