SKIF 2S1

Well, my long delayed 2S1 kit is finally completed for an Arty group build. Since this is an SP I figured another pic here would not hurt. This is my second attempt at using Mig pigments for weathering and I am pleased with the results.

Never seen one of those… Is it Russian? It looks very good! I might try those pigment.

Thank you. Yes, both the kit and the actual vehicle are Russian. The vehicle itself came into service with the Soviet Army, Warsaw Pact, and Soviet client states starting in the mid 70’s and is still in service today. The kit is made by a company called SKIF from Kiev in the Ukraine. I built it straight from the box except for replacing the kit towcables with parachute cord (550 cord) inner lines. This is my second kit built from this company and I really do like their subjects and kits.

Looks great. Weathering looks really good. Good job on it.

Yes, it is a 12mm SP howitzer used by Russian and former Soviet states. It is/was their standard light, SP howitzer.

Have you tried their D-30 howitzer (122mm towed howitzer) yet? It is also a great kit.
