I know this has been posted and answered before, but can someone explain for me a convincing way to simulate wood grain…I’m doing some ladders and need some advice. Thanks.

You could solve the problem by using real wood if it is in scale to your project. If this will not work try this. With a razor-saw or hack-saw blade lightly drag the teeth down the length of the plastic, you will see little furrows cut into the plastic that look like wood grain pattern. Give the plastic a light sanding to smooth out the high spots of the “wood grain” and paint. You can add “knots” to areas with either a straight pin or a small dab of paint.
