I am just starting out modelling and looking for the best source of paint for the Nissan GTR. I am looking for the silver finish and looking for some solutions for the best paint match? What brands and colours do you recommend?

I love Tamiya sprays. They are very forgiving and easy to use out of the can; smooth finish without a lot of effort.
There are 2 colors that come to mind right away, silver leaf TS-30 ( I think it’s a metallic though, not a true gloss, but I haven’t actually used it) and gloss aluminum TS-17. The aluminum is probably what you’d want to go with, and I bet that is what Tamiya reccomends in the GT-R instructions.

A really good source for paint if you live in Europe is Zero from Hiroboy, he can mix just about any colour you want if you provide the paint number, make, year and colour name.
Otherwise, as already stated Tamiya spraycans is the way to go. If you wan’t a really gloss surface you need to clear coat both the silver leaf and the aluminium colours.
A couple of examples:
56 Nomad painted with silver leaf and clear coated, it loses some of it’s brightness but the paint job gets more durable.

…and then I’ve used aluminium with no clear coat on this Xanavi Nismo.
