As long as the file size of signature images or animations is less than a hundred kb then I don’t think it will case problems in downloading speeds.

On, but I have to admit that sometimes they get annoying even though I have broadband at home and at work. Especially on a thread with lots of posts and lots of sig pix. Try to read something while it’s loading and the screen is constantly resizing.
I leave them on. Having the ability to turn them on and off is great but even with dial-up I’ve never had a problem with them. This just wouldn’t be the same great place without them.
I really enjoy them- definately on.

Hello Everyone!! I have them on when I am on Broadband but older dial-ups i turn them off!!! I leave them on if I can. But I must say that some of them are too large and bit annoying. To have a huge space taken up again and again. Maybe if the ones that are to remain the same were smaller and the signature ones that are very large be temparory or on rotation. Some are just to big to see over and over again and to have to keep scrolling down just to see the next response!!! Please don’t get offensive. This is just my [2c]!!! Take Care!!! [:D]

It’s good to hear the reasons/thoughts behind the answer. I mean I could pull the stats on who’s got them turned on and who’s got them turned off. [;)]
Another case is where sigs are turned on and they’re quick one sentence replies back and forth. In one forum I’ve been in, people asked that for subsequent posts within the same thread that sigs be turned off.
I leave them on, even though I’m on dial up. I enjoy most of the Sigs, although a few are a little too much.

All options are left on. I surf this forum mostly at work, so the T3 line helps. However, I do think that some members, ahem, no names named, really overdo it. Freaking 30 lines of signature is a little excessive I think. I can understand a line or two with one pic. But so many people here have far in excess of that. GB badges not applying, enough is enough, as it is kind of a self-indulgence, and annoying to say the least.
I have them turned off but it has nothing to to with my computer speed…
